If you own your own home, you will have recently received your annual property assessment and may even have gone down the rabbit hole of checking out the assessed values of your neighbour’s place, places you once owned, etc… Please keep in mind these assessed values are intended to reflect market value of the property as of July 1st of last year. Those assessing the property obviously are doing so without access to the property and so these appraisals are often not accurate at the time nor are they reflective of current market value.
